The Ministry of Defence has announced that its review of appeals regarding the surrender of firearms will be concluded today.
According to Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha, the Secretary to the Ministry, firearms that were not surrendered within the designated time frame and those not presented to the review and inspection committee will be classified as illegal.
Air Vice Marshal Thuyacontha emphasized that legal action will be taken against individuals in possession of these firearms. The review, which has been part of ongoing efforts to regulate and secure firearms within the country, aims to ensure compliance with national laws and enhance public safety.
The Ministry urged all firearm holders to cooperate with the process and submit their weapons to the review and inspection committee before the deadline.
