The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has recorded a statement from the Director of Legislative Services of Parliament regarding the inclusion of a doctorate title before the name of Justice and National Integration Minister, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara, on the Parliament's official website.
This follows a notice issued to the Director of Legislative Services and Acting Director of Communications, Jayalath Perera, who appeared before the CID for the second time regarding the inquiry.
The Secretariat, responsible for publishing MPs’ details on the website, falls under the authority of the Director General of Legislative Services. As part of the investigation, eight other parliamentary officials have also been questioned, and CID officers visited Parliament to record further statements.
The investigation began after Minister Nanayakkara filed a complaint with the CID on December 16, alleging incorrect information was published about him on the Parliament website.
