In February last Year, the Parliamentary Sectoral Oversight Committee on National Economic and Physical Plans explored options to revive the mill as a public-private joint venture, rejecting proposals to shut it down.

The factory, which was established in 1956, required $1.2 million in repairs. Experts projected that with these repairs, the mill could produce 5 tons of paper daily, generating a monthly profit of Rs. 22 million.
