The US delegation, led by Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu, met with Speaker Dr. Asoka Ranwala at the Parliament premises.

The delegation included key officials, USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator Anjali Kaur and US Department of the Treasury Deputy Assistant Secretary Robert Kaproth. Discussions centered on Sri Lanka’s reform priorities and the role of Parliament in promoting accountability, transparency, and inclusive governance.

Speaker Ranwala thanked the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for its support in strengthening the relationship between Sri Lanka’s Parliament and its people trough various initiatives. He expressed hope for continued US assistance in bolstering parliamentary democracy.

The US delegation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s progress and enhancing democratic practices.

US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung, USAID Mission Director Gabriel Grau, and Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera, Private Secretary to the Speaker Ranapriya Abayasinghe were present on this occasion.
