The Indian High Commission in Colombo has provided relief assistance to families in the Northern Province affected by recent floods.
The distribution of aid was conducted yesterday by the Consul General of India in Jaffna, Shri Sai Murali, and MP Kader Masthan yesterday (December 7).
Around 2,100 families from flood-hit areas in Pesalai and Vellankulam (Mannar District) and Thunukkai and Manthai East (Mullaitivu District) received essential items, including mats and blankets.
This support reflects India’s “Neighborhood First” policy, emphasized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian High Commission stated. It added that India remains committed to assisting neighboring countries during times of need, ensuring timely and effective relief for affected communities.
