The United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, arrived in Sri Lanka early this morning (December 5) as part of an official delegation. He was accompanied by another senior official from the U.S. Department of State.
The delegation landed at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at 2:55 AM on Qatar Airways flight from Doha.
They were received by representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka and officials from the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy on December 2, Assistant Secretary Lu’s visit aims to strengthen U.S.-Sri Lanka cooperation in areas such as sustainable economic growth, anti-corruption initiatives, and fostering closer people to people ties between the both nations.
He will join USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator Anjali Kaur and U.S. Department of the Treasury Deputy Assistant Secretary Robert Kaproth and together, they are scheduled to meet with senior officials from Sri Lanka’s newly formed administration and civil society representatives to discuss various collaborative efforts.
