An Iranian tourist was seriously injured while attempting to take a selfie on the Ella-Colombo tourist train near the Ohiya-Idalgashinna Railway Station.
The 37-year-old woman reportedly leaned out of the train to take a selfie and was knocked against a utility pole, causing her to fall off the train. According to the police, she was traveling with a group to Nanu-Oya and was returning when the accident occurred.
The injured tourist was immediately transported on the same train to Nanu-Oya and then taken to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Local reports highlight the dangers of leaning out of train doors, a practice common among tourists seeking scenic views or photo opportunities.
