The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO)has issued a warning regarding deteriorating air quality levels across Colombo and several other regions in Sri Lanka. The air quality index has reached concerning levels prompting authorities to advise the public to take precautionary measures.

In particular, individuals experiencing respiratory difficulties, including coughing, shortness of breath, or wheezing, are urged to seek immediate medical attention. 

The NBRO recommends that vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing respiratory conditions, limit outdoor activities and stay indoors as much as possible.

The NBRO has also advised the general public to wear face masks if going outside and to ensure proper ventilation in indoor spaces. Local environmental authorities are closely monitoring the situation, with further updates expected as conditions evolve.
