The IMF's Senior Mission Chief for Sri Lanka, Peter Breuer, emphasized that continuing the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program will help Sri Lanka achieve stable and inclusive growth.

Breuer stated that the IMF program ensures financial support while holding the government accountable for implementing critical reforms. He added that it also reassures the international community, encouraging financial inflows to the country.

Breuer highlighted that the program, which began in March 2023, has already shown positive outcomes, with many economic indicators improving.

Even though poverty is still high, the data indicates a downward trend. Continuing reforms is essential to maintain this trajectory and ensure benefits are shared across the population, Breuer noted.

The IMF program remains key to fostering a stable and equitable, economic recovery for Sri Lanka.
