The search for a rumored treasure in the Veyangoda Wadurawa area continues today as excavation work intensifies. The operation, which has drawn significant public attention, is being closely monitored by the Police Special Task Force (STF) under orders from the Attanagalla Magistrate

Earlier reports suggested that a stone believed to contain a hidden treasure had been discovered and subsequently exploded, sparking further controversy. Authorities were quick to respond, arresting nine individuals who were attempting to access the site, and remanding them into custody.

In line with the court's directive, scan tests were carried out at the site, revealing unusual findings beneath the ground, which led to the initiation of excavation efforts. Yesterday, the STF used two backhoes to dig up the area, uncovering a large stone that is said to be linked to the treasure. However, the excavation was halted in the afternoon due to heavy rains.

The operation has caused some disruption, including the removal of a portion of the side wall of the expressway, which is currently under construction and temporarily halted.

The court has ordered that the excavation proceed in full view of the public, adding to the mystery and intrigue surrounding the ongoing efforts to unearth the supposed treasure. As the search continues, authorities remain focused on determining the authenticity of the findings.

The treasure hunt has become a subject of much debate in the local community, with many speculating about the potential discovery, while others question the legitimacy of the claims. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
