The Ministry of Finance announced that discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) representatives will proceed today, with officials from the Central Bank and the Finance Ministry participating.
Minister of Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated that the progress of these discussions, including key points from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s meeting with the IMF delegation, will be presented during today’s Cabinet meeting.
President Dissanayake held discussions with the IMF team yesterday (November 18) at the President’s office, focusing on Sri Lanka’s economic recovery. He emphasized the importance of a balanced approach to addressing citizen hardships and restoring public trust. Critical issues such as child poverty, malnutrition, and support for the differently-abled were highlighted during the talks.
The IMF delegation, which arrived in Sri Lanka on November 17, began its discussions with Finance Ministry officials the same day as part of the third review of the IMF program.
