Sri Lanka Customs'Revenue Task Force has made a significant drug seizure at the Colombo Port intercepting a shipment of illegally imported medicines valued at approximately Rs. 90 million.
According to Customs Media Spokesman, authorities confiscated 1.8 million Pregabalin (Pregab 150mg) capsules, a prescription medication commonly used for nerve pain and epilepsy treatment. The drugs were discovered concealed inside 36 wooden speaker boxes that had been imported by a businessman in Pettah.
The discovery highlights ongoing efforts by Sri Lanka Customs to curb illegal drug trafficking and protect public health. Investigations are underway to identify the individuals behind the illegal importation, with Customs officials emphasizing the seriousness of this violation.
The seizure comes amid increasing concerns over the smuggling of controlled substances into the country, and authorities have vowed to continue their vigilance in combating such illegal activities.
