The first phase of the fertilizer subsidy program for the Maha season has been completed, benefiting farmers across 23 districts.
A total of 1.29 billion rupees was distributed to 129,229 farmers island wide, according to the Agrarian Services Department.
Commissioner General of Agrarian Services, Rohana Rajapaksha, stated that the distribution of the subsidy subsidies would depend on the progress of plantation activities.
However, delays have occurred in parts of the Polonnaruwa district due to the late release of water from the Giritale and Kaudulla reservoirs. Efforts are ongoing to address these issues and ensure timely support for affected farmers.
