The Sarvajana Balaya (SB) party has announced the nomination of its leader, Dilith Jayaweera, as the party's representative for the National List seat in Sri Lanka's Parliament. The decision was made public by the party's General Secretary today.

Despite not securing any direct seats in the recent general elections, the SB earned a single National List seat, a provision which allows parties that fail to gain direct representation but receive a significant share of the national vote to appoint a representative to Parliament.

Dilith Jayaweera, a prominent figure within the party, has been at the helm of SB since its inception. The party, which focuses on social welfare and national unity, views this nomination as a crucial step towards making a stronger impact in Sri Lanka's political landscape.

In his statement, Jayaweera expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and emphasized his commitment to representing the interests of the people through legislative reform and national development. “This is not just a victory for me, but for the many who believe in the Sarvajana Balaya’s vision for a just and equitable society,” Jayaweera said.

The SB's nomination of Jayaweera to the National List seat marks a significant moment for the party, as it prepares to exert its influence in Parliament and continue advocating for the values it stands for.
