The Ministry of Health has issued a warning about a potential increase in dengue cases due to recent heavy rainfall.
Dr. Palitha Mahipala, the Health Ministry Secretary, announced that preventive measures are underway to control mosquito breeding and limit dengue spread, especially in the Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha, and Puttalam districts.
The Colombo district currently has the highest number of dengue cases with 10,558, followed by Gampaha with 4,978, and Jaffna with 4,148 cases. The National Dengue Control Unit reported a total of 41,960 cases and 20 dengue-related deaths nationwide this year.
