The fine for bribery in connection with an election has been increased significantly, as per the latest amendments. 

Previously set at Rs. 500, the fine has now been raised to Rs. 1 million. Minister of Justice, Prisons Affairs, and Constitutional Reforms, Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, has signed The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, which has been gazetted for public review.

In cases of bribery by treating, the fine has been increased from Rs. 200 to Rs. 750,000.

Similarly, the fine for undue influence in an election, previously Rs. 500, has been raised to Rs. 100,000.

Additionally, the fine for personation at an election, previously set at Rs. 300, has now been increased to Rs. 100,000.

The draft Bill proposes increased fines for several offenses under the Code of Criminal Procedure.
