The Kohuwala flyover which was built with the support of the Hungarian government, was opened today (17) by the Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

The construction of the Kohuwala flyover which was started in 2021 as a solution to the heavy traffic in and around the Kohuwala junction in Colombo - Horana road had to be stopped in 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent situation that arose in the island.

A large percentage of the construction of the entire flyover had been completed, this project was stopped due to not settling the loan provided by the Hungarian government. The bridge, which is 300 metres long and 9.2 metres wide, based on the funds of its local contractor.

Minister Bandula Gunawardena and others attended the opening of the fly over and it is now open to the public.
