A person was injured after police fired at a tipper truck that refused to stop at a checkpoint on the Kilinochchi - Punareen Road in the Punchi Paranthan area late last night.
Police said that despite multiple signals to stop, the driver continued to proceed and also attempted to endanger the police officers.
One person traveling in the tipper truck sustained injuries during the shooting.
Both the injured individual and another person fled the area, but one of them was immediately apprehended by the police.
The injured person was later arrested after receiving treatment at Kilinochchi Hospital.
Police have launched investigations to apprehend the other individual who escaped.
During the incident, police discovered a total of 2 grams and 100 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as 'ice', inside the tipper truck.
