Investigation launched on decapitated skeleton at Colombo Port

A decapitated skeleton was unearthed at the Colombo Port premises during excavation for the Port Access Elevated Highway Project. 

Harbour Police reported the skeleton was found approximately 300 meters from the Navy base.

Police said thta project activities have been halted and further investigation into the skeleton's identity, to be conducted following a Magistrate's inquiry.

Security measures at the project site have been intensified.
