Galle High Court Judge Kavindya Nanayakkara has sentenced a man to 20 years in rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs. 20,000 for sexually abusing an underage schoolboy.
The accused, identified as a Dhamma school teacher and dancing instructor, was also ordered to pay Rs. 250,000 in compensation to the victim.
The abuse occurred between October 2012 and September 2013, resulting in the accused being convicted on two counts while acquitted of a third charge.
Sergeant 35910 Amarasiri of Yakkalamulla police gave evidence for the prosecution.
