A crocodile over 6 feet long was caught in a trap set by wildlife officers and a police lifeguard in Menikganga, Kataragama, and released into a lake in Yala National Park.

This action follows an incident where a pilgrim was attacked by a crocodile while bathing in the Menikganga river.

In response, the Wildlife Department and police have initiated steps to capture crocodiles in the area. Additionally, security forces, at the request of the Chief Incumbent of Kirivehera Rajamaha Vihara, have taken measures to protect the river's bathing places.
