The Ministry of Education (MOE) is making significant strides in implementing a programme to provide interest-free loans to students who passed the 2022 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination.

This initiative, in line with the 2017 budget proposals, aims to support students who did not gain admission to state universities, allowing them to pursue courses at private higher education institutions.

Eligible students can receive interest-free loans up to a maximum of Rs. 800,000. To date, the ministry reports that 17,313 students from seven groups have already benefited from these loans, enabling them to enroll in 100 degree courses offered by 17 approved non-government higher education institutions.

The ministry is now inviting proposals for courses from these institutions for the upcoming eighth batch of students who passed the 2022 A/L exam.
