Fifteen motorcyclists who dangerously rode motorcycles for money bets in Bambalapitiya on the Colombo-Galle Main Road have been fined Rs. 427,500, and their driving licenses were suspended for 6 months by the Colombo Traffic Court today.

Police said the motorcyclists were arrested by the Bambalapitiya Police early morning on May 5. They were released on police bail after being presented to the police station.

The arrested suspects are between the ages of 20 and 28 and are residents of Colombo and surrounding areas.

Police said that the motorcycles taken into custody were inspected by the vehicle inspector, who reported on the various defects found in them.

Later, the suspects were presented to the Colombo Traffic Court and were fined.

It was reported that the riders were arrested and presented to the court on several occasions earlier for dangerous riding, and the honorable court ordered them to pay fines.
