A 44-year-old woman sustained gunshot wounds and was hospitalized following a shooting incident in Medawachchiya last night.
The victim received initial treatment at the Medawachchiya hospital before being transferred to Anuradhapura hospital for further medical care.
The suspect, who had committed the shooting over a personal dispute, had fled the area.
Police reported the use of a 12 Bore firearm in the incident and are actively investigating to arrest the suspect.
