In a move aimed at recognizing and rewarding the talent and dedication of its international players, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a significant increase in player fees across all formats, effective immediately.
Under the new scheme, 41 players will be offered revised contracts falling under six distinct categories: A1, A2, B2, C1, C2, and the 'A' Team. This restructuring of player fees underscores SLC's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for its players to thrive and excel on the international stage.
Test Match Fees:
One of the most notable changes comes in the realm of Test match fees, where players will see a substantial 100 percent increase in payments. Furthermore, SLC has introduced a merit-based payment system for Test matches, wherein players will be rewarded differently based on match outcomes - whether the match is won, drawn, or lost.
ODI and T20I Match Fees:
For One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), players will enjoy a 25 percent hike in match fees, reflecting SLC's recognition of the importance of limited-overs cricket in the modern game.
Recognition for ICC Rankings:
In a move aimed at acknowledging outstanding individual performances on the global stage, SLC has decided to reward players who attain top rankings in the ICC Player Rankings. Players achieving the status of 'Best Batsman,' 'Best Bowler,' or 'Best All-Rounder' across all formats will receive a one-time financial reward.
Moreover, players ranking between 2nd and 10th place in these categories will also be recognized with a one-time payment, showcasing SLC's commitment to incentivizing excellence at all levels.
