A Sri Lankan traveler arriving from Thailand was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake for possessing over 5 kilograms of Kush cannabis.
The individual, a 32-year-old from Homagama, was detained by officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) after they discovered 5.278 kilograms of Kush cannabis concealed within his luggage.
It was reported that the Kush cannabis, valued at approximately Rs. 20 million, was divided into 36 separate parcels and clandestinely stowed away in his belongings.
The arrested passenger, identified as a professional dancer, landed at BIA around 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday night (08) from Bangkok, Thailand, aboard an AirAsia flight.
The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) is currently pursuing further investigations into the detained individual.
