The Cabinet of Ministers in Sri Lanka has greenlit a proposal put forth by the President and the Minister of Education to create a National Teachers' Council.

According to government officials, the initiative stems from a collaborative effort involving consultations with various stakeholders within the education sector.
A preliminary draft for the establishment of the National Teachers' Council has been formulated following extensive deliberations, paving the way for further development and implementation.
