A woman attempting to bribe the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of Kalutara South's Anti-Corruption Division to secure her husband's release, who was arrested for possession of heroin, has been arrested.
According to Kalutara South Headquarters Police, the suspect offered a bribe amounting to Rs. 300,000.
A woman resident of Kalutara North area has been arrested.
Police said the OIC, Sub Inspector T Sri Ranga had arrested her husband with heroin and brought him to Kalutara South Police.
Police stated that the suspect contacted her wife to bring a shirt to the police station, and approximately 20 minutes later, she arrived.
A senior police official revealed that she handed over Rs. 300,000 to the OIC.
Following the OIC's report to the headquarters police inspector regarding the bribe attempt, the suspect was detained.
Further inquiries are ongoing into the matter.
