The Court of Appeal's decision whether or not to consider the writ petition filed by former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella seeking an order directing the Maligakanda Magistrate to release him on bail was today postponed for May 7.
The former Minister is challenging the orders by the Maligakanda Magistrate on February 3, February 15, February 29 and March 29, consistently refusing to release him on bail and placing him in remand custody till the conclusion of the trial.
The writ application was called before Appeals Court Judge D.N. Samarakoon this morning.
The former health minister had put forward the relevant petition, seeking a court order invalidating the order issued by the Maligakanda Magistrate under the Public Property Act to remand him until the completion of the trial on substandard human immunoglobulin procurement.
