Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe filed a Revision Application in the Court of Appeal against an enjoining order issued by the Colombo District Court, which barred him from acting as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
President’s Counsel Dr. Romesh De Silva, representing the Minister, informed the Court that the enjoining order was obtained ex parte by the parties filing the District Court case, without his client's knowledge.
The petition was scheduled for support on May 2, with Minister Dr. Rajapakshe seeking the dissolution of the enjoining order, interim orders suspending its operation, and staying the proceedings of the District Court case.
Respondents named in the petition include top SLFP members such as State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna, MP Duminda Dissanayake, and Minister Mahinda Amaraweera.
President’s Counsel Dr. Romesh De Silva, instructed by Senior Lawyer Sanath Wijewardane, appeared for the petitioner, while a panel of lawyers including President’s Counsels Chandaka Jayasundara and Kuvera de Zoysa, along with Attorney-at-Law Pulasthi Rupasinghe, represented the respondents.
