Two women were trapped between train compartments this evening while attempting to board a moving train, according to the Railways Department.
The incident occurred around 4:35 p.m. as the Kandy-bound Colombo train approached Colombo Fort station, where it was scheduled to halt for boarding passengers.
Both women suffered serious injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention.
A collaborative rescue operation unfolded at Fort station, involving bystanders and railway personnel working together to extricate the trapped individuals from between the train carriages, the Department reported.
