The Colombo High Court has set a hearing date for the case involving the notorious criminal figure and drug trafficker Nadun Chinthaka, known as "Harak Kata," following his foiled escape from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Scheduled by High Court Judge Damith Thotawatta, the hearing for "Harak Kata" and his two accomplices is slated for May 15.

Currently held at the old prison complex in Tangalle, repurposed as a detention center, "Harak Kata" made headlines on September 10, 2023.

During interrogation by eight CID officers, he allegedly poisoned their tea with the aid of a Police Constable. Seizing an opportunity during a restroom break escorted by the constable and an STF sub-inspector, "Harak Kata" managed to free himself from his handcuffs, feigning restraint as he exited.

A scuffle ensued as he attempted to seize the STF officer's firearm, but additional CID officers swiftly intervened, apprehending him once more.
