A 33-year-old pilgrim who had gone missing after jumping off the protective fence at the Ratnapura-Sri Pada route at Uda Maluwa has been found. 

The man, a resident of Sooriyawewa, Hambantota, had visited Sri Pada with two other women on April 19. CCTV footage at Sri Pada Uda Maluwa captured the moment when the man suddenly ran down and jumped off the protective fence while descending along the Ratnapura-Sri Pada route.

The man was located in the Rajamale area of the Murray estate near the Sri Pada reserve. He was discovered by a group of estate workers and subsequently taken to the Nallathanniya police station. From there, he was admitted to Maskeliya Hospital for treatment and later transferred to Dik Oya Base Hospital.

An operation involving Army personnel from the Laxapana army camp and the STF had been launched to trace the missing individual.
