A judge from the Puttalam Quzi Court has been arrested by officials of the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption for accepting a bribe of Rs5,000.
The commission stated that the arrest was made following a complaint lodged by a resident of the Vettalai area of Puttalam.
The judge allegedly demanded the bribe from a woman in exchange for issuing a divorce certificate related to a judgment from the Puttalam Quzi Court. Subsequently, he was brought before the Puttalam Magistrate's Court and remanded until May 6.
