The Meteorology Department has issued a weather advisory forecasting showers or thundershowers in several provinces and districts across Sri Lanka. According to the department, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-western provinces, along with Galle, Matara, and Anuradhapura districts, are expected to experience rainfall after 2:00 p.m.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur in Uva and Northern provinces, as well as the Polonnaruwa district, during the afternoon or night.
In addition, showers or thundershowers are predicted in western coastal areas during the morning hours. Misty conditions are anticipated in some areas of Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as Ampara district, during the morning.
The general public is advised to take precautionary measures to minimize any potential damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
