A four year child in a line house in Butawatta in Miyanakandura who drank illicit liquor at the instigation of a woman in a neighboring house was seriously taken ill and after preliminary treatments at Hingurukaduwa divisional hospital, transferred to Moneragala general hospital.
Police said the people living in Butawatta line houses including the child’s parents were illicit liquor addicts and that a woman had forced the child to drink.
They said a complaint received from the child’s mother in this regard was being investigated. Police said the JMO would examine the child and furnish a report.
During investigations, the police arrested a 52 year woman in connection with the incident and she was to be produced before Passara magistrate.
