Four individuals, including a prominent traditional doctor, have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of three individuals, including an assistant estate superintendent, in Halgollawatta Estate, Yatianthota.
According to the police, the assaulted assistant estate superintendent, field officer, and estate watchman are currently receiving medical treatment at Karavanella Hospital.
The incident occurred while the victims were playing cricket at a stadium in Wewal Thalawa.
A group of approximately ten individuals, including the main suspect armed with sticks, stormed into the ground and attacked and abducted the victims in a van. They were then taken to a wasteland area where they were further assaulted.
Upon receiving a complaint about the kidnapping, the Yatiyanthota Police promptly responded, located the area, and rescued the victims. Subsequently, four suspects, including the traditional doctor, were arrested in connection with the incident.
