A special operation to arrest those who pay for drugs using eZ Cash and M Cash, which is a method used to pay money for drugs, was launched by the police yesterday.
The police stated that the operation, launched on Saturday (06), will continue until April 10 in parallel with the 'Yukthiya' operation under the instructions of Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon.
Accordingly, the police mentioned that information has been obtained from 198 people who are involved in illegal drug trafficking using eZ Cash and M Cash during operations conducted throughout the island on Saturday.
The police mentioned that in further investigations conducted on them, the Police Narcotics Bureau will conduct further investigations through the bank account records of 18 drug traffickers and telephone tower analysis reports regarding 71 other drug traffickers.
