A female police officer was tragically crushed to death by a truck, as reported by Matugama police.
The deceased has been identified as Sergeant Damayanthi Weerasuriya, who was stationed at the Kalutara Police Superintendent's Office and lived in the Puhambugoda area of Dodangoda.
According to police, Sergeant Weerasuriya had alighted from a bus after completing her duties and was crossing the road at the Malabada junction from Matugama towards Kalutara when the tragic incident occurred.
