The Department of Meteorology has issued a heat advisory for several provinces and districts in Sri Lanka, warning that temperatures are set to soar to 'Caution level' on Sunday.
Residents in the North-Western, Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, and Eastern Provinces, as well as the Mannar district, are advised to take precautions as the heat intensifies.
The advisory has been raised to 'Caution level' in 14 districts, including Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Kegalle, Mannar, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, and Ampara. However, there is hope for temporary relief on Monday, with showers or thundershowers expected in certain areas such as Kalutara, Ratnapura, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara in the evening or night. The rest of the island is expected to experience mainly dry weather during this period.
