Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, will elevate its flight operations to Colombo, effective May 1, Eng. Athula Galketiya, Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited, has announced.
This expansion of flight services is anticipated to make a significant contribution to the revitalization of Sri Lanka's tourism industry and facilitate travel to the Middle East and other prominent global destinations.
Presently operating 10 weekly flight frequencies, Etihad Airways will ramp up to 13 flights per week starting May 1, with two flights scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and one flight on Wednesdays. Subsequently, from June 15, the airline plans to escalate operations to 20 flights per week, with three flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and two flights on Wednesdays.
This enhancement in flight operations aligns with Etihad's ambitious expansion strategy aimed at augmenting Abu Dhabi’s global connectivity. It aims to provide guests with more flexible travel options, facilitating seamless connections in Abu Dhabi and offering a broader network for travelers to explore.
