The Panadura Special Crime Investigation Unit has arrested a woman holding dual citizenship for allegedly defrauding individuals of over Rs. 5 million, promising to facilitate their migration to Canada.
According to police, the arrested woman resides in Malabe and is employed as an accountant in Canada.
A senior police official said that the Panadura Police Superintendent's Office has received four complaints, while numerous other police stations across the island have also registered complaints against the suspect.
Police said that the accused has evaded the arrest for approximately eight years and was arrested while en route to another engagement.
