In an effort to uphold accountability and transparency in financial matters, the Committee on Public Finance (COPF) has called upon the Governing Board of the Central Bank. COPF Chair, Dr. Harsha De Silva, announced today in Colombo that the summoning will take place next week.

Dr. De Silva emphasized the parliamentary prerogative to seek clarification on recent developments, including the staff pay hike, and to take necessary actions as warranted.

He further highlighted the legal framework guiding the Central Bank's accountability, citing Section 80 (2) (a) of the CBSL Act. This move underscores the commitment to ensuring effective oversight and governance within the financial sector.
