Several flights bound for destinations in India, the Middle East, and Thailand faced delays today at Katunayaka International Airport due to technical failures, according to a spokesperson from the flight information center.
The delays primarily affected SriLankan Airlines, with six out of the seven delayed flights belonging to the airline.
Among the affected flights were US 173 bound for Bangalore, India, scheduled to depart at 1:10 a.m., UL 402 destined for Bangkok, Thailand, scheduled for 1:15 a.m., and UL 135 bound for Chennai, India.
In addition, UL 143 to Mumbai, India, scheduled for 5:10 a.m., UL 263 to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, scheduled for 6:30 a.m., and UL 207 to Abu Dhabi, UAE, scheduled for 6:50 a.m., were also delayed.
Flight SG 002, set for departure to Chennai, India, was also among the delayed flights.
Passengers were advised to check with the airport authorities for updates on their flight schedules as efforts were underway to resolve the technical issues causing the delays.
