Convener of the Kelaniya University Students' Union Kelum Mudannayake has been taken arrested by the Public Complaints Division of the Criminal Investigation Department.
Police said he was arrested in connection with a recent incident of ragging at the university.
They said that Mudannayake had been avoiding the police and he was intercepted while attempting to depart from the Katunayake Airport.
He will be produced before the Mahara Magistrate's Court.
