SriLankan Airlines has addressed the delay experienced at the check-in counters in Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake today (25 Feb.), clarifying that the delays were due to temporary operational conditions and not related to any trade union action.

In a statement issued, the national carrier assured passengers that the delays were not caused by any industrial action but rather by unplanned operational circumstances at the airport. SriLankan Airlines emphasized that the check-in counter operations have now stabilized and returned to normal.

The statement conveyed the airline's apologies to any passengers inconvenienced by the delays and affirmed their commitment to monitoring the situation closely to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Earlier reports had indicated delays affecting four SriLankan Airlines flights at BIA, attributed to ground staff reportedly refraining from performing certain duties.
