The Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a key suspect linked to the shooting incident in Mahabage on Thursday.
The suspect, identified as a corporal in the Sri Lanka Army serving at the 4th Gamunu Hewa Battalion in Chenkaladi camp, attempted to flee when the STF moved to arrest him.
Later, army intelligence officers detained the suspect in the Ampara area.
He was wanted over the shhoting incident on Thursday in which 'Ukkua,' an associate of organized criminal figure 'Welle Saranga', was killed.
According to the police, two other ex-army soldiers including the main suspect arrived for the shooting.
