Sri Lanka Energies Private Limited (SLE), a subsidiary of the Ceylon Electricity Board specializing in accessory manufacturing, reported to the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Energy and Transport that efforts to halt water leakage in the Samanalawewa reservoir have been unsuccessful.
Despite implementing various measures, the leakage persists, posing a significant challenge.
During a meeting held at the Parliamentary complex on Tuesday, SLE representatives informed the committee about the ongoing struggle to contain the leakage. They disclosed that despite concerted efforts, no effective solution has been achieved thus far.
Moreover, SLE officials revealed concerns about a clandestine operation purportedly conducted by a group under the guise of preventing the water spill. This revelation underscores the complexity and seriousness of the situation, prompting further scrutiny and discussion among committee members.
