A bus carrying pilgrims to Sri Pada toppled at approximately 7:30 p.m. today on the Nuwara Eliya-Hatton Road in Nanu Oya, leaving at least eight individuals injured, Police said,
The injured passengers were swiftly admitted to the Nuwara Eliya base hospital for medical attention.
The accident occurred on a section of the road with a steep slope, designated off-limits for vehicles. The bus, originating from Matara and carrying 34 pilgrims to Sri Pada, lost control on this precarious stretch of road, leading to the overturn.
Fortunately, the bus did not plunge down the precipice, averting a potentially more severe catastrophe.
