Sri Lanka has received a significant boost in its healthcare transportation services with the generous grant of 40,000 metric tons of diesel from the Japanese government. The allocation aims to bolster ambulance operations and overall medical transport infrastructure across the island nation.
In a formal ceremony held at the Colombo Port, the Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mizukoshi Hideaki, officiated the handover alongside Sri Lanka's Minister of Health and Industry, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana.
The diesel grant signifies a pivotal step in enhancing Sri Lanka's healthcare logistics, ensuring swift and efficient transportation of patients and medical personnel. This initiative comes at a crucial time when seamless mobility within the healthcare system is paramount.
To guarantee the judicious utilization of the diesel resources, Sri Lankan authorities have introduced a sophisticated Fuel Management Information System (FIMS). The system is designed to monitor the distribution of diesel across healthcare institutions meticulously. It will maintain comprehensive records of fuel allocations to vehicles and facilities, ensuring transparency and accountability in resource management.
